Superintendent Update

Before sharing this week’s updates, I want to acknowledge yesterday’s accident involving one of our Creston Intermediate Middle School buses on I-465. Twenty-four students and three adults were on board, and all were taken to hospitals for medical evaluation and care.

As a parent and superintendent, my heart goes out to the students, staff, and families who experienced such a difficult day. Please know that you are in my thoughts and that our Warren team is here to support you in the days ahead.

During this difficult situation, so many people stepped forward to help. We are grateful to the emergency responders, medical teams, and concerned citizens who stopped to assist our students and adults at the accident site. We also thank our Warren staff throughout the district who provided care and support and helped connect families with their children. To everyone who has reached out with concern or offered support, thank you.

As we move forward, our focus remains on the well-being of everyone involved. We will continue checking in with our families and staff to understand their needs and support their recovery and return to school. Please keep them in your thoughts and join me in extending care, patience, and kindness.

Care for our students is a responsibility we share with our families, and we deeply value that partnership. As we conclude the first quarter and prepare for parent-teacher conferences tomorrow and Friday, thank you to our parents and caregivers for taking time to connect with our teachers. These conversations help us celebrate your child’s progress, understand their needs, and work together to support their success.

Conferences are also an opportunity to talk about your child’s interests, hopes, and goals for the future. Please look for an email this week with an invitation to explore Xello, a tool our students use to learn about their interests, strengths, and future possibilities. Over fall break, take a few minutes to explore it with your child. It’s a great way to start a conversation about what they enjoy, what they would like to learn, and their dreams for the future.

Fall break begins Monday, October 5th, with students returning to school on Monday, October 19th. I wish our students, staff, and families a fun and relaxing break. Whether you are traveling or staying close to home, I hope you have time to rest, enjoy time together, and do something that brings you joy.

Additional information in this week’s update includes information on the elementary and middle school redistricting for the 2027-2028 school year, reminders for voter registration and early voting, and internet safety.
