1) How long have you been a boys wrestling coach here at Warren?

This is my second year coaching here at Warren. Before this, I coached at Marian University for four years.”

2) What is your favourite part about coaching the team?

My favorite part about coaching the team is watching the kids grow into better people through the sport. As important as it may seem to be successful in the sport itself, it is much more important to develop into good people, and watching that happen over time with our athletes is easily the most rewarding part of the job.”

3) How do you think the season is going so far?

It is very early on in our season, but I believe things are going well. The wrestlers are already getting better, making significant progress from the first day to now. But again, it is still very early in the season, and right now the only thing that matters is getting better and enjoying the process.”

4) What are you most looking forward to for the rest of the season?

The thing I most look forward to is watching our kids see their hard work pay off later in the year. Wrestling is the hardest sport there is, and if you aren't in the wrestling room every day, you can't understand how much work and emotion goes into it. There is nothing I look forward to more than getting to see our kids feel the happiness and rewards of all of that paying off at the end of the season.”

5) What is your relationship with your wrestlers like?

I feel like the relationships between our coaches and athletes are really strong, and that is why Warren Central has been so good at wrestling for so long. There are a lot of tough conversations and moments throughout the season with kids, but it only makes us closer and makes everyone love each other even more. The Warren Central wrestling team truly is a family that is centered around the goal of becoming better people and wrestlers every day.”

6) How are you preparing the team for larger tournaments later this year?

We prepare our athletes for the larger tournaments throughout the year by just staying consistent. We try not to let losses and setbacks affect us too much throughout the season, because in reality all of those things are just part of the process in trying to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be, come sectionals time. You have to let the losses be lessons and cannot let the victories make you feel content. You just have to continue to get better and enjoy the process.”
