May 20 Update Graphic

May 20, 2020

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

As we prepare to finish the 2019-20 school year and continue to plan for the upcoming 20-21 school year, I wanted to share some information about both. Students who are currently in Kindergarten through 11th grade will be allowed to use their district assigned device over the summer. If you do not need the device or will not be attending a Warren school next year, you can turn your device in during materials pick the first week of June or Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Walker Career Center, Door 70. When turning in your device, you need to include the iPad or Chromebook, the charger, chrome book plastic shell, and carrying case. Seniors will receive more information on their device turn-in process from their cohort team.

Early in June, we will be mailing grade level summer learning packets to all students in grades K-8. These packets will focus on essential math and reading skills as well as social emotional skills. Students will receive an incentive for completing their packet upon returning it to school in the fall. Our school reopening task force is planning for a variety of scenarios for the start of the 20-21 school year. We are working closely with the Marion County Health Department, the Indiana Department of Education and following guidance from Governor Holcomb to ensure that the plan we put in place provides the safest environment for students and staff. It is our goal to share this plan by the end of June. I will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available.

MSD Warren Township and Warren Central High School are proud to announce that we will be partnering with the Marion County Health Department to provide drive thru COVID-19 testing for our community. The testing site will be accessible on the south side of the high school campus off of 16th street starting Wednesday, May 20th from 6 AM - 2 PM. Testing will continue on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6 AM - 2 PM. Testing is free and registration is required. You can register onsite or online at MarionHealth.org/INDYCOVID

The Ransburg YMCA and other greater Indianapolis YMCA locations are now offering child care, ages 5-12, for essential worker families. For more information, you can visit www.indyymca.org or call 317-484-9622.

Please remember that all schools will be distributing student's personal items, including end of year reports cards, and collecting textbooks and library books via a drive through service the first week of June. If you have personal items at your child's school you want to retrieve, please complete this survey at (bit.ly/endofyearpickup) to assist us. Our Warren staff will be packing up these items over the next few weeks to prepare for distribution the first week of June.

Please stay connected by visiting our website, downloading our mobile app, viewing our district social media twitter and facebook accounts for updated information.

Have a great and safe Memorial Day Weekend!
