ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
Engineering Design and Development (Non-PLTW)
Grade 12 (both semesters required)
Prerequisites: C or better in at least 3 PLTW courses, teacher recommendation, and Department Chair recommendation
Engineering Design and Development (non-PLTW) is an engineering research course in which students work in independent teams to research, design, test and construct a solution to an open-ended engineering problem. The product development life cycle and a design process are used to guide the team to reach a solution to the problem. The team presents and defends their solution to a panel of outside reviewers at the conclusion of the course. The EDD course allows students to apply all the skills and knowledge learned in previous pre-engineering courses. Students in this class are looking for the guidance to design that project they have always thought about.
